When I was in London I bought
this book, which is basically about the books used on
Lost and how they (possibly) tie in to the overall mythology. Anyway, the book was written before season 5 began so it's a little outdated, but still a good read. I haven't finished it yet, but there's one part about Dostoevsky's
The Brothers Karamazov that really stood out for me because it's creepily omniscient:
[Like the book The Brothers Karamazov] Lost shares an interest in the figure of the patriarch: Mr. Paik, Christian Shephard, Charles Widmore, Wayne, Anthony Cooper. Wayne is already dead when our story begins, and Cooper is murdered. Should Benjamin Linus, yet another patriarch, end up murdered before Lost comes to an end, like the father in the novel he read on-screen, no doubt the suspects will be innumerable. But perhaps Ben is not the true father figure. Perhaps the barely glimpsed Jacob will turn out to be the father of Lost.
Heh. I can has February now?
